THREE SMALL WHITE JADE ANIMAL CARVINGS
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The first is carved as a recumbent pig with its head resting on its front trotters and its bushy tail upturned. The well polished translucent stone is of an even pale celadon tone. The second is carved as a recumbent horse with its head turned towards the back. The well polished stone is of an even white tone with speck of russet inclusion. The third, a white and russet jade carving of a recumbent buffalo, modelled with its head turned towards its back and grasped in its mouth a lingzhi spray. The russet inclusion well worked to accenuate one side of its body.
The pig: 2 1/2 in. (6.3 cm.) wide (3)
