A CARVED CELADON JADE 'POMEGRANATE' GROUP
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The jade is naturalistically modelled in the round as a ripe pomegranate with seeds bursting from the skin, carved on one side with a cicada resting on a leafy branch that embraces the fruit. The stone is of a pale celadon tone with concentrated areas of greyish-brown inclusion.
3 in. (7.6 cm.) wide
