Contemporary straight-grained red morocco, covers centered with the gilt arms of Elizaveta Alekseevna, within a scrolling floral border, the spine paneled in gilt, green moiré silk doublures, gilt turn-ins. Provenance: Elizabeth Alekseevna, Empress Consort of Russia (1779-1826; binding, Tsarskoe Selo stamp) -- Gilhofer & Ranschburg (sold, 1932, no. 413) -- William Doyle Galleries (sold, 1998, no. 60).
