A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF GUANYIN AND A GILT-BRONZE STAND
MING DYNASTY, 16TH/17TH CENTURY
The figure of Avalokitesvara is shown seated in padmasana, and holding a willow stem in the raised right hand and a cup in the left hand. The bodhisattva wears jewelry, layered robes with decorative borders, and a crown with five openwork points, each centered by a seated figure of Amitabha Buddha. The separate gilt-bronze pedestal stand is cast with rows of lotus petals and is raised on a column that rises from an hexagonal base.
