Morrocco comments on the oil for which the present work is a study:
'It is a memory of a hill village very near Rome. There was a rampart around the village and the villagers would come with their families and gossip until they went to bed and the children would sometimes fall asleep on top of this rampart. It is the mother and child theme ... It is that period just after sun-down and the moon comes up, a kind of poetic evening' ('Alberto Morrocco', Talking Pictures, Scottish Television, 1992).
