MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
Each side of the ewer is decorated with three panels enclosing stylised shou characters and lingzhi sprays, above a band of archaistic dragon scroll. There is a small chilong beside the spout, and the handle is formed by a further dragon. The cover is carved with a band of lotus flowers, surmounted by a gilt-metal finial. The stone is of a pale celadon tone with russet and paler inclusions.
