Château Rauzan-Gassies
Château Rauzan-Gassies was owned by Gaillard de Tardes in the 16th-century and Bernard de Baverolles in the 17th-century before it was passed to Monsieur de Rauzan in the 18th-century. Since World War II, the owner has been Monsieur Paul Quié and his heirs. Like its premier cru neighbor, Château Margaux, Château Rauzan-Gassies makes a wine more powerful than many Margaux but, in the best vintages, with a refined elegance and delicacy. Château Rauzan-Gassies saw a rough patch in the late '60s and '70s, but the offerings in this sale are from a golden age long before that.
