The upper section with a moulded cornice and shaped shelves enclosed by three glazed doors with applied arched and trefoil pierced upper panels, the lower section with four drawers above a shaped apron and bracket feet

Characteristic regional features of this dresser include the elaborately shaped frieze beneath the drawers (see lot 4 for a similar frieze below the cornice); the beaded front edge of the sides and the use of drawers only in the base. The simple cornice construction seen here is one of the most common forms found on 19th century West Country vernacular furniture.
