Biche couchée (Doe resting)

Dating from 1840, Biche couchée was subsequently used for the doe in Famille de cerf (see lots 65-6), and was first offered in Besse's 1844 catalogue. Another cast of this model, dated 1840 and also from Eduardo Guinle's collection, was sold in these rooms, 25 May 1995, lot 161 ($5,060).
