Cerf qui écoute (Listening stag)

Dating from 1838, this model was subsequently used as the stag in Famille de Cerf (see lots 65-6), and was first offered in Besse's 1844 catalogue. Another cast of this model, also from Eduardo Guinle's collection, sold in these rooms, 25 May 1995, lot 155 ($4,140).
