A Berlin silhouette blue-ground coffee-can and saucer
Circa 1795, underglaze blue sceptre marks, Pressnummer 10 and incised //// to footrims
The can with an angular handle enriched with gilding, the front painted with a sihouette of a lady in an oval gilt line cartouche edged with trailing gilt oak leaves, beneath a gilt egg and dart border, the saucer with a youth in classical dress making an offering by a smouldering cylindrical altar of love inscribed Amor filial. within a similar circular gilt cartouche at the well and similar border, gilt line rims (some flaking to gilding at well of saucer, very slight flaking to oak leaves on cup, very minor wear to rims)
