The movement plates joined by four ringed baluster pillars, with florally engraved and pierced front plate, the weight-driven train with verge escapement and brass balance, the lead weight with integral striking movement with countwheel and bell, also mounted with a pierced brass hand indicating the time against adjustable brass chapters on its descent, with calibrated brass scale to one side engraved with 100 marks to assist in setting the hour chapters in accordance with the seasons, with key drawer to the base and pierced brass frets to the sides of the trunk, lacking hood

The strike train for this clock is particularly ingenious, being incorporated into the weight for the going train. However, it still requires its own power and this is derived from a going barrel. The strike train must be wound at the same time as the going train; it is only when the weight and thus the strike mainspring are at the top of the case that the latter aligns with a winding hole.
