QUEEN ANNE (1665-1714)
A 2pp. a.l. unsigned, dated Kensington, May 20th [1708], to [Sidney Godolphin, first Earl of Godolphin], expressing her desire to make two appointments and also to please Godolphin, then Lord High Treasurer and an ally of the Marlboroughs: "I will give no orders till I see you, I do not doubt but great fault will be found in me for this by some people, but as long as one dos (sic) nothing but what is right according to the best of ones understanding, one may the better bear the blame ... & whatever ill impressions may be given you of me, I am sure there is none more faithfully your humble servant;" together with two other 16th-century documents, one signed by Catherine de Medici, the other by Lord Burghley; and a 19th-century document signed by a member of the Mendelssohn banking family.
