Designed in the 'antique' manner the lion-monopodiae of this bergère chair with Grecian-klismos legs derive from a pattern for a bed published by Thomas Sheraton in his Cabinet Encyclopedia, 1804, (beds) pl.III.
A bergère of closely-related design is illustrated in F.Collard, Regency Furniture, Woodbridge, 1985, p.108.
