manuscript on ivory paper, 342ff. plus four flyleaves, each with 12ll. of well-formed black naskh, punctuation in red, gold roundels between verses, Persian interlinear translation in red between gold and black interlinear rules, gold margins between black rules, blue outer rule, neatly written contemporary commentary in red and black, with gold and polychrome marginal medallions marking the divisions of text, gold outer margin between black rules, sura headings in red on gold cartouches within gold and polychrome illuminated panels, (negligible smudging, occasional damage to folio edges), opening bifolio of Qur'anic text finely illuminated in two-colour gold and polychrome, interleaved within this a folio containing the start of the commentary finely illuminated on each side with a medallion design within cartouche borders, the margins of the following bifolio finely illuminated with scrolling floral sprays in black and gold heightened with touches of colour, preface of 4ff. including diagrams in black, red and gold, colophon at end stating that the qur'an was commisssioned to comemmorate his father by Agha Muhammad Mu'min, son of the deceased Hajji Muhammad Na'im Kashi, written by Ashraf b. Abdallah Altabatabai Quruji, 27 Shawwal 1134, the contemporary black morocco binding with gold stamped medallion, pendants and spandrels (damage to edges), red morocco doublures with similar gold painted decoration, in red presentation box
