manuscript on paper, lines of minute black naskh written to leave the bismillah, the name of the prophet, his daughter, the 12 Imams and a repeating pattern formed by the blank areas, the bismillah overpainted in white, a border of diagonal script either side divided by black rules, gold, green, red and blue margins between black rules, (minor smudging, occasional damage to edges), finely illuminated gold and polychrome heading, colophon at the end signed by 'Ali Mohammad al-Shirazi and dated 1273, leather flap
