Julien Le Roy, appointed Horloger du Roi in 1739 became maître in 1713.

The C couronné poinçon was a tax mark in use between March 1745 and February 1749 on any alloy containing copper.

An identical cartel clock but with a movement by Guillaume Dauthiau also from the Fremersdorf Collection is illustrated in Tardy, La Pendule Français, 3rd ed., Paris, 1967, colour plate after p.188.
