A PAIR OF MONUMENTAL GILT-METAL-MOUNTED SÈVRES-PATTERN DARK-BLUE-GROUND BALUSTER VASES AND DOMED COVERS, painted by G. de Sède in a pastel palette with figures in 18th century-style Italian interiors, one with a lady seated attended by a maid and a couple announcing their nuptials, the other with a group seated around a table and turning to welcome a man entering the room, a small white dog in the foreground, the reverses with figures and buildings in extensive wooded and mountainous Arcadian landscapes, each scene enclosed within a ciselé gilt oval cartouche outlined with elaborate gilt foliate scrolls, diaper and seeding, the flared necks and rims, covers and stems similarly enriched, mounted with pinecone finials, bands at the rims and shoulders, seated female caryatid handles holding flowers, leaves and collars at the lower bodies and on shaped-square bases cast with laurel-wreaths (one stem restored, one cover fixed to vase), imitation blue interlaced L marks and iron-red Châteaux des Tuileries marks, imitation red script Offert par le Duc de Richelieu à la Princesse de Lamballe, circa 1880 64in.
