This boudoir centre-table with heraldic enrichments is designed in the French 'antique' style of the 1840's, and is embellished with carved ivory mosaique, for which the Dieppe ivoiriers were celebrated in the 19th century. The acanthus-wreathed glazed medallion commemorates the marriage of Louis XII and Mary (d. 1533). A dressing-table of similar form is illustarted in Christopher Payne, 19th Century European Furniture, Woodbridge, 1981, p. 141.
