A GREEN AND AMBER-GLAZED POTTERY JAR, HU
HAN DYNASTY
The generously proportioned, globular body raised on a solid cylindrical foot, the double-grooved band encircling the body at its widest point interrupted on two sides by crisply molded taotie and ring handles, below a molded triple band on the shoulder, the waisted neck rising to a double ribbed band at the lower edge of the galleried rim, covered on the exterior with a leaf-green glaze extensively iridesced to a silvery pale green, the interior of the neck splashed with a wide band of amber glaze above the exposed red pottery body, the underside also glazed--18¾in. (47.5cm.) high
