AN INDO-PORTUGUESE IVORY GROUP OF THE MADONNA AND CHILD**
LATE 18TH CENTURY

The seated Madonna rests upon a throne chair with a crescent moon at her feet, she balances the Child with her left hand, He holds an orb, the chair with a scalloped crest and carved with foliate scrolls, cherubim masks and floral bouquets above a similarly carved canted base (chips and restorations, lacking chair finials)-11½in. (29cm.) high
