From 1927 when her father Ernest Guinness gave her the fairy tale castle Luttrellstown outside Dublin as a wedding present until she sold it and its contents in 1983 in one of the greatest country house sales Christie's has ever held, the honourable Mrs. Aileen Plunket transformed the castle into a palace for entertainment and house parties. Her linen was of the finest quality and formed a whole session of the sale. The following lots, now the property of her descendants, are some of the finest examples in the collection which she kept for herself.
