Thomas Bray, Westminster, fourth quarter 18th Century
The case with handle to bell top applied with foliate mounts and with four florally cast ball-and-spire finials, later pierced brass fish-scale sound frets to the sides and on brass bracket feet, the dial signed Thomas Bray Westminister in the centre with calendar aperture, silvered chapter ring with pierced blued steel hands, foliate spandrels, the arch painted with a blacksmith's shop with five automaton figures variously applying or hammering out horseshoes with one figure attending the bellows, the five pillar twin chain fusee movement with verge escapement and strike on bell, the backplate engraved with strapwork and signed in the centre Thomas Bray Next St. Margarets Church Westminster
