Each with a scrolled caned tablet above a horizontal splat with downswept scrolled arms on downswept supports, above a caned seat with buttoned squab cushion covered in ivory watered silk, the seat-rail with a key-pattern, on ring-turned tapering legs with splayed feet, with batten carrying-holes, refreshments to the decoration (2)

The chair with its caned back, Grecian ribbon-fret decoration and scrolled and reed-ringed 'bamboo-like' legs, relates to one acquired by the Victoria and Albert Museum in 1899 (R. Edwards A History of the English Chair, London, 1951, no. 108; inv. no. 332-1899).
