Private Walter Robinson was killed in action on 1.7.1916 on the first day of the Battle of the Somme and is commemorated on Thiepval Memorial. Attacking at 7.30 a.m. with the 10th K.O.Y.L.I. from the Fricourt sector, the Battalion took two lines of enemy trenches within 10 minutes. It was withdrawn on the second day after suffering 455 casualties.
