Early 18th Century, attributed to Jodocus de Vos, after Lambert de Hondt II
Woven in wools and silks, depicting the Compement from the Arts of War series, with the General on horseback receiving a glass of wine from a maiden and a second figure on horseback blowing a trumpet, surrounded by further figures and set in a camp with peasant soldiers eating and drinking wine in tents, the background with an extensive landscape with a camp, within a foliate border with foliate clasps to the angles and a military trophy to the centre of the bottom, to the top with a simulated coat-of-arms, within a brown outer slip, cut to the base, with later brown slip to top, folded twice to the left, areas of reweaving and patching
13 ft. 7½ in. x 15 ft. 6 in. (415 cm. x 473 cm.) excluding brown outer slip to top
