Chapman, and H. Trotter, on the Expedition to Yarkund, 1873-74, contents, half title and title page, with printed fold-up Preliminary Map of Eastern Turkestan... loosely inserted in front pocket, maroon cloth, titled in gilt on spine, 4to.

This was the second Yarkand scientific mission, and the first to use photography. The outcome is a detailed photographically-illustrated report including topographical views of the locations, portraits of the native peoples, studies of their homes and customs. The images numbered 1-86 were taken by E.F. Chapman and nos. 87-102 by Captain Trotter.
