Each with pierced C-scroll back surmounted by a foliate and C-scroll finial, centred by an oval padded medallion with carved padded seat, polychrome painted and gilt with putti withing sun-rays and foliate C-scrolls, the conforming apron above foliate cabriole legs, later blocks (2)

This pair of chairs may be attributed to Mariano Coppedè. He established his La Casa Artistica in Chiesa di Santa Croce in 1875, showing at the International Exhibitions during the latter years of the century. A screen, probably part of the same commission, was sold in these rooms 3 November 1994, lot 192.
