Conceived in cut brass in 1914, and presumably cast in bronze in an edition of 3.

Purchased by the present owners from Kettle's Yard, Cambridge.

The present work belongs to a small group of sculptures that were made in response to a request from the critic and poet, T.E. Hulme (1883-1917), for a sculptural object that could be carried around in the pocket and was designed to be handled.
