Descriptif du lot

The great barn and its adjoining farm buildings at Charleston were the subject of numerous paintings by Grant from when he first moved to the farmhouse in 1916 to the late 1960s. Here he has positioned himself a little way down the farm track that separated the barns from the house and pond, and concentrated on the granary and stabling projecting from the left side of the barn. Much to Grant's distress, the granary was pulled down a few years before his death but the Charleston Trust is planning to rebuild it.
