MARK OF EDWARD WAKELIN, LONDON, 1748
Oval with slightly raised border, the field pierced with quatrefoils, scrolls and circles, the centre engraved later with two crests and motto with earl's coronet above, marked on reverse, also engraved with scratchweight '34=8'
15 in. (38.2 cm.) long
32 oz. (1,025 gr.)
The crests are those of Byng, for John, 1st Earl of Strafford G.C.B. (1772-1860)
