Circular, with reeded border, applied with two foliate scroll bracket handles, the bowl pierced with diaperwork and foliate scrolls, later engraved below the rim with two crests and motto with earl's coronet above, marked inside bowl
7 in. (17.6 cm.) diameter over handles
3 oz. (122 gr.)
The crests are those of Byng, for John, 1st Earl of Strafford G.C.B. (1772-1860)
Provenance
Presumably supplied to Admiral John Byng (1704-1757) and then by descent to
John, 1st Earl of Strafford G.C.B. (1772-1860) and by descent.
