a mycenaean shallow drinking cup
Late 14th Century B.C.
With single ring handle and small ring base, buff coloured with dark brown painted decoration: a painted line around the rim, the exterior with eight sets of chevrons, the underside with concentric circles, the interior plain with slightly raised central boss outlined by three moulded encircling lines, (repaired from fragments); and a ring askos, buff coloured with brown painted decoration, the mouth brown, the handle with twelve stripes, the upper body with geometric pattern of interlocking line-filled triangles, two horizontal lines around the body, (intact), early-mid 12th Century B.C.
4¾in. (12cm.) and 3 3/8in. (8.6cm.) diam. respectively (2)
