The Collection of Sir Elton John realised $20,537,842 — more than doubling the low estimate of $10 million. Demonstrating the worldwide excitement around the sales, 47% of bidders across the sales were new to Christie’s, 86% of winning bids were placed online and there was global participation from over 60 different countries.
The sale was led by the exceptional Opening Night live sale with Banksy’s Flower Thrower Triptych achieving $1,925,500. Two world records were established as well for the Rolex Daytona Wristwatch with a Leopard-print Dial, which sold for $176,400 and a Signed Cartier Paris Tank Normale which sold for $176,400.
