The Art d'Asie sale on December 11 and Art of Asia Online on December 13 achieved a total of €6,128,514, with €5,445,342 realised at the Paris auction.
For the first time, the public had the opportunity to admire an exceptional presentation of the works in the Art d'Asie sale. Designer and Maître d'Art Pierre Bonnefille was invited to create a bespoke exhibition design in the salons of Avenue Matignon. His paintings and minimalist furniture pieces established striking dialogues with the Buddhist sculptures and tankas featured in the sale.
The highlight of the auction, Opera Singers by Lin Fengmian, acquired directly from the artist in 1965, sold for €604,800, far surpassing its initial estimate of €100,000 to €150,000.
From a prestigious French private collection, a rare gilt copper alloy plaque from the 15th century depicting goddesses as musicians, doubled its low estimate to achieve €453,600. Gilt bronze statues, always highly sought after by collectors, reaffirmed their appeal. Among them, a rare and important gilt-bronze figure of Amitayus, one of Pierre Bonnefille's curated pieces, fetched €378,000, while a gilt-copper turquoise-inlaid figure of Vaishravana riding a horse, exceeded expectations by tripling its estimate to reach €163,800.
Porcelain pieces also stood out. Some exceeded their estimates twentyfold, such as a rare guan-type basin-shaped washer from the Song Dynasty, estimated at €10,000–€15,000 and sold for €239,400, or fifteenfold, like a rare sacrificial blue-glazed porcelain bowl that achieved €214,200. Notably, a rare and important inscribed langyao vase doubled its initial estimate to reach €126,000.
Finally, during the online sale, a white and russet jade pine brush pot from 17th–18th century China distinguished itself by achieving €32,760, nearly five times its estimate.
