3 parts in one volume, including the Parergon and Nomenclator, 2° (441 x 290 mm). Engraved allegorical general title, with full-page engraving of the arms of Spain on verso, 155 (of 156) engraved mapsheets, including 38 in the Parergon. (Tear with small loss to title, lacking engraved memorial to Ortelius, portrait of Ortelius and map 133, part of map 134 cut out, two large holes to map 78 with loss of the arms, a few small marginal tears occasionally touching maps, marginal waterstaining and browning.) Contemporary calf, spine gilt (worn). Provenance: H.C.C. (stamp on title).

ONE OF THE LARGEST EDITIONS of this great atlas, containing several new maps. The copperplates were acquired in 1601 by Jan Baptist Vriens who published a Spanish edition in 1602, printed by the Plantin Press, and this Latin edition in 1603, printed by Robert Bruneau.
