A comparable rhodonite elephant with the scratched inventory number '23905' and a similar Fabergé signature on the underside of a foot was sold at Bonhams, London, 5 June 2019, lot 102. The rhodonite elephant was listed in the inventory of Fabergé works confiscated from the Moscow branch. It was sold by the Bolsheviks in 1919 for 525 roubles.
