Lady Anne was the daughter of Charles Lennox, 1st Duke of Richmond and his wife Anne, second daughter of Francis, Lord Brudenell. On 21 February 1722 she married William Anne, 2nd Earl of Albemarle; they had several children. George (1724-1772), their eldest son, who succeeded as 3rd Earl, was a General, fighting with the Duke of Cumberland at Culloden, and was also at the siege of Havana in 1762. The second son, Augustus (1725-1786), the famous Admiral, joined the Navy and sailed with Anson on his voyage of circumnavigation at the age of 15. He was a Commodore by 1742, and second-in-command to Poccock at Havana. He was Admiral of the Blue in 1778 and Commander-in-Chief of the Grand Fleet, fighting at the Battle of Ushant. He was appointed First Lord of the Admiralty and created Viscount Keppel in 1782.
