Captain Bligh (1829-1901) of Brittas, Co. Meath was the eldest son of Edward Bligh (1797-1872) D.L. J.P. of Brittas, Co. Meath, a cousin to Earl of Darnley by Sophia Eversfield. He was commissioned as an Ensign into the 41st Regiment of Foot on 15 March 1850; Lieutenant 25 June 1852; Captain 15 September 1854 and retired by sale 26 December 1856. He served in the Crimean War and was present at the sortie of 26 October 1854, the Battle of Inkerman where he was wounded and taken to Scutari hospital. He returned to the Crimea 12 July 1855 and served at the Seige of Sevastopol and the Storming of Redan.
He married 14 September 1858, Emily Matilda, daughter of Hinton East. He died leaving issue
