The moulded oval top supported by a pair of hounds each with a collar with carved inscription GRAF.LAMBERG, on an oval moulded plinth base and bun feet, with two labels to the underside, one printed with the inscription Culturhistor. Ausstellung/STEYR and numbered in ink 123/559, the other with an inventory label numbered in pencil 217, minor restorations, minor losses to the decoration

The black hound was incorporated into the Lamberg coat of arms in 1350. Since then it has become the leading symbol of the family. A carved stone hound can also be seen on the fountain in the inner courtyard at Schloss Lamberg in Steyr.
