Rectangular upright box, the lid cast and chased with playing cards, dice and counters, the front with a matted oval medallion enclosing the figure of Fortune, the back with the interlaced initials HLP surmounted by a count's coronet against a sablé ground, the spandrels decorated with floral and laurel festoons, ribons and Vitruvian scrolls, the sides with flutes framed by a ribbon-twist border, the interior of the base horizontally divided by a gold panel
