This drawing was executed circa 1798-9 and corresponds to the top left section of the drawing of 'The Temple of Concord' by Girtin after Clerisseau in the British Museum (T. Girtin and D. Loshak, 'The Art of Thomas Girtin', 1954, no. 343). In the late 1790's Girtin made several drawings after Clerisseau's popular prints, 'Italy: Views of Ancient Edifices and Famous Ruins'.
