the mother-of-pearl panel carved with a trading vessel and two merchants with tea chests in an interior within a foliate border, the box, English, hallmarked, Victorian and decorated with the scrolling foliage, the lid Dutch, dated 1749 and inscribed "Konse F" -- 5¾in. (14.5cm) wide, Johannes Konse was famous for two portrait plaques of the Dutch Royal Family in the Rijksmuseum.
