Maker's mark of Gorham, circa 1870, no. 810, 7 pints
Tapered cylindrical with tucked-in base, on four short bracket supports, the body and handle with frosted finish, with plain flaring neck, two sides applied and flat-chased with spray of wheat, berries, flowers and leaves, with highly upturned spout, below applied with oval plaque engraved with entwined initials C (or G) N with coronet above the ribbon tied flower topped scroll handle with bifurcated and leafy join, the hinged partly raised cover topped by fluted button finial--9in. (23.5cm.) high, gross weight 28oz.
