Compare with brushpots also painted in sepia with landscape scenes, one illustrated in Selected Ceramics from the Collection of Mr. & Mrs. J.M. Hu, 1989, Catalogue, pl. 50; another in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, published in Beurdeley and Raindre, Qing Porcelain, 1987, pl. 133, both with Yongzheng marks.

It is interesting to note that the painting on this brushpot and other like pieces share many similarities in style, subject-matter and technique with contemporaneous monochrome-ink handscroll paintings.
