It is relatively unusual to see such a comprehensive group of portrait miniatures of the Sikh leaders. This collection was possibly assembled by Captain Quin or one of his officers whose Irregular Cavalry were involved in the second Sikh War. A portrait of Captain Quin is included in the album.
A list in a contemporary hand attempts to identify the portraits which include: Ranjit Singh, and a number of members of his family, Dewan Moolraj, and Gulab Singh, the Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir, it appears, however, that at some point the miniatures have become detached from the album as the list does not always correspond with the portraits.
