The herm-legged and castor-fitted table, with sliding top concealing a ratchetted writing/music-stand, relates in form to a sketch for a pembroke/games-table in Gillow of London and Lancaster's 1793 Estimate Books (see L. Boynton, Gillow Furniture Designs, Herts 1995 fig. 64).
