A paint analysis undertaken by the University College London has revealed that the present decoration covers the original identical decorative scheme, which consists of silver leaf picked out with coloured oil glazes. The green leaves include the pigment chrome yellow, which was introduced in 1818, and because there were no 20th Century pigments found, it is almost certain that the present surface was applied onto the old decoration in the 19th Century.
