For a very similar bottle see Alexander Brody, Old Wine From Old Bottles, A Collector's Commonplace Book, Hong Kong, 1993, pp. 16-17, no. 16, where the author quotes a singularly apt comment from Joseph Joubert (1754-1824) considering the ephemeral quality of the design of this bottle: "Thoughts form in the soul in the same way clouds form in the air"

For another, of pear shape, see Christie's, London, The Ko Family Collection of Chinese Snuff Bottles, Part V, October 9, 1994, lot 76
