A Fine Austrian Sword
Mid-16th Century
The sharply-tapering blade with a double fuller on each face of the forte, changing to a single one and inlaid with a cross, the iron hilt retaining its original blued finish and comprising slightly arched quillons with spatulate ends, semi-circular side-ring, single arm and inner diagonal guard and thumb-ring, covered-cup shaped pommel and original wooden grip covered with leather tooled with a trellis pattern

A number of similar swords are preserved at Schloss Ambras, near Innsbruck
